Cast of 'From Arsehole to Breakfast' - Midsumma 2010 Production

Warrick GlynnWriter – Warrick Glynn

Warrick has been absent from the stage for a number of years now but has performed for some of Melbourne’s better known companies like Whitehorse, Festival, Hoy Polloy and an assortment of other local companies. He has been known to tread the boards for the odd special event like The Flying Bouffants and has also acted in opera, TV drama, commercials and a handful of movies.

This is Warrick’s second foray into writing for the stage, the first one being a high school musical called ‘Four Teen Dreams’. With a thousand stories just busting to get out of Warrick’s head and onto the stage he finally put pen to paper while on a European trip in mid 2009. Any similairty between what you see on stage and Warrick’s real life is….well….no surprise really!

Andrew VialDirector – Andrew Vial

Andrew has been on the Melbourne theatre scene for more years than he cares to remember. Directing ‘From Arsehole to Breakfast’ marks yet another another unsuccessful attempt at retirement!

Andrew has acted, sung and danced in over 60 non-professional productions in many of Melbourne’s companies and has become known for his broad experience and versatility playing roles as diverse as Georges in La Cage Aux Folles and Dan in Gulls.

Equally at home in musical or straight theatre Andrew has also turned his talents to opera and TV drama with numerous professional acting jobs to his credit.

Andrew’s previous directing has been for established musicals including Nunsense and an assistant director role on Brigadoon.  He is enjoying the challenge of transforming a new play from the page to the stage and is looking forward to sharing the result with the Midsumma audience.

Daniel MadrigaliSteve – Daniel Madrigali

Daniel is an experienced and versatile actor. He has performed in a critically acclaimed season of Sarah Kane’s Crave as ‘A’, played ‘Leonardo’ in Fredrico Garcia Lorca’s Bodas De Sangre (Blood Wedding) and played ‘Benedick’ in Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing.

Recent work includes a playing ‘Malvolio’ in a successful production of Twelfth Night. Daniel has also proved himself in most major fringe festivals around Australia including a Melbourne Short & Sweet ‘Top 30’ show, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival and Perth’s Artrage festivals and looks forward to his first Midsumma Festival.

Rounding out his experience, other credits include musicals, children’s theatre and installations, as well as short-film and television work. He has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre and Drama Studies and Media Studies and has completed year-long professional actor training with Melbourne’s Verve Studios. Daniel is a financial member of Equity.

Zoran BabicJoe – Zoran Babic

Zoran has been involved with theatre for the last 15 years and has an extensive list of over 30 productions to date.

Mordialloc Theatre Company has seen Zoran in productions of Cosi, A hard god, Run for your wife, Face to face, Over the river and through the woods.

Productions at Beaumaris theatre include Cash on delivery, Blackrock, Cactus flower, Picasso at the lapin agile, Smiley, Return to the forbidden planet and A midsummer night’s dream. Over the last few years Zoran has performed for both the fringe festival as well as Midsumma.

Last year Zoran completed filming of a TV sitcom called Snowpeck which he hopes will be on air shortly! After a year living in Broome Zoran has come back and is excited about this production. He hopes you enjoy his portrayal of Joe.

Kerry LanderBelinda – Kerry Lander

Kerry hails from New Zealand but has been living in Melbourne for seven years, after three years in Canberra.

This is her first stage acting role since playing an overly tall Munchkin in a school production of The Wizard of Oz.

Kerry has continued to perform occasionally in other mediums, including being an extra in a Kmart TV ad for a “Red Alert Towel Sale”; DJ’ing on student/ community radio; voice work  on radio ads and telephone ‘on-hold’ systems, and taking part in flash-mob go-go events and ‘Danceathons’.

While playing Belinda, she is portraying someone she could very easily be. Except Kerry is far more careful with her drinks.

Marcus Ingleby

Nathan – Marcus Ingleby

Originally from the UK, Marcus has been in Melbourne for nearly a decade. This is Marcus’ first acting gig in many years.

His past roles include cops, wicked emperors, dodgy butlers and a nativity monkey (yes monkey) – mainly in school productions. The character Nathan is a good friend to both Steve and Joe and he has to ‘love them both the same’.

He’s fun but possibly a bit flaky – clearly Marcus has had to be coached in the flaky department!

Lynda WestMary – Lynda West

Lynda began her professional training almost 18 months ago at Swinburne Uni in Prahran, although her observations of people and her sometimes off-beat way of looking at life began much earlier.

A fun, vivacious, and unpretentious actor, Lynda is always looking to enrich her experiences, both in acting and in life, with a not dissimilar approach to both (full throttle, minimal indication and easy on the brakes). On returning to Melbourne after living in London for five years, Lynda decided to take up drama classes ‘for fun’.  The more she learned, the more she understood that she had so much more to learn, and so classes became a mixture of revelation, joy and challenges.

Lynda has acted in student plays, improv and film and has been a featured extra in locally produced films, however this is her first non-student play.

Bruce Carboon

Neville – Bruce Carboon

This is Bruce’s second production since returning to stage after a brief rest which lasted two years.

A2B follows a successful season with the Heidelberg Theatre Company where he played the role of Dexter in The Philadelphia Story.

Bruce has participated in numerous plays, musicals and the odd film and television production over the past 30 years.  He has enjoyed the opportunity to be working with new material and play a very Australian character.

It was an opportunity not to be missed – working with such a dedicated and talented cast and crew.
